Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - After being part of the Evander Kane trade, Danny O’Regan played three games in Rochester scoring two goals. With the injury to Kyle Criscuolo, the Sabres only had 12 forwards, so O’Regan came up. The former San Jose Shark will not play Wednesday, but he’s pretty excited to be here, “I was definitely surprised at the time because I wasn’t really expecting to get traded like that, but I was really excited to get started here and this organization has been just great so far.”

O’Regan played one full season on a line with Jack Eichel at Boston University. Evan Rodrigues joined the line at Christmas, and he said both were excited when he was acquired, “They’re both good friends and I knew they’d make me feel right at home when I got here and they’ve been great so far.

“Jack was consistently the best player in the country and then Evan just provided that spark which was just crazy. I think he came up and had like 50 points in 20 games, he was insane, he was just playing with so much confidence, but we were all pretty unselfish players and we like to make plays and we all complimented each other really well.”

After he was traded, we heard that he’s an undersized, fast forward. O’Regan said, “I try to play fast, I think I hurt myself when I’m not playing fast and I start overthinking things, so just play fast and let your legs do the work.”

Phil Housley is not using O’Regan against the Flames, but he said he could play Thursday in Ottawa.

Join Schopp and the Bulldog for the pregame show at 6:30 p.m. when they’ll be joined by Phil Housley, Chad Johnson and Danny O’Regan.
