Gamenight: Sabres and Flyers tied 1-1 in second period

The Sabres are back on the road, looking for a second straight win, after a home game two nights ago. Ryan O'Reilly scored first for Buffalo, but Philadelphia answered back to tie the game 1-1. Check back throughout the game for updates.

Brian Elliott misplayed the puck behind his own net, Zemgus Girgensons was able to stop the puck and it results in a the first goal of the night. Girgensons was able to get the puck to Ryan O'Reilly for an empty net chance. O'Reilly's eighth goal of the season was assisted by Girgensons and made it 1-0, Buffalo. Two and a half minutes later the Flyers would answer back to attone for the early miscue.

Travis Sanheim was able to score after Justin Falk's clearing attempt from behind his own goal hit off of a player and made its way into the slot. Josh Gorges was not able to meet the Philadelphia defenseman before his shot tied the score at 1-1. The goal is Sanheim's first career NHL goal, and was assisted by Dale Weise and Jordan Weal.

Each team recorded seven shots on goal in the opening twenty minutes. Kyle Okposo was called for the only minor penalty of the period when he sat for tripping. However, the Flyers did not score on the power play. The best chance during the two minute opportunity came for the blue and gold. O'Reilly and Johan Larsson gained a 2-on-1 short handed chance but failed to score.
