Gamenight: Okposo scores, Sabres tied with Arizona 1-1

November 2, 2017

The Sabres are back on the ice after a five day layoff following their loss to San Jose. After a sluggish start for both teams to begin the first period, Coyotes' defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson netted the first goal of the game at the 6:36 mark.

Before Larsson's goal, Robin Lehner had to make nine saves against the Arizona offense. Jack Eichel also had a promising opportunity early in the affair, as he worked himself behind the Coyote defense before landing a backhand shot on Arizona goaltender Antti Raanta that was swatted away. Just as the period looked to be coming to a close, a shot came off the boards with a funky bounce and landed crisply on the stick of Benoit Pouliot, who dished off a quick pass to Kyle Okposo, who then snuck a wrist shot past the gloveside of Raanta for his first goal of the season with only :0.9 left on the gameclock. The late tally tied the contest up at 1 as the teams headed into the first intermission.
