Throughout his incredible career, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN has pretty much played everywhere, with one notable exception: Broadway in NYC. However, Bruce can now cross that one off his ‘bucket list,’ as he has just announced his plans for “Springsteen on Broadway…” The ‘intimate and personal’ shows will take place from October 12th thru November 26th, and will have Springsteen performing 5 nights a week (Tuesday-Saturday) at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York’s famous Theater District. For his “residency,’ Bruce’s plan is to perform his music (on guitar and piano), read excerpts from his recent autobiography, “Born To Run,” and share tales from his storied career. Of his decision to play ‘The Great White Way,” Springsteen says, "I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind. In fact, with one or two exceptions, the 960 seats of the Walter Kerr Theater is probably the smallest venue I've played in the last 40 years." And in a bold move to keep the coveted tickets out of the hands of scalpers and ticket ‘bots,’ Bruce is taking measures to ensure that FANS have access to buy them through the ‘Verified Fan’ program offered by Ticketmaster. Going on NOW thru August 27th, those interested in the shows can register for the chance to buy tickets at the Springsteen on Broadway site, and will be notified prior to the August 30th on-sale date for the shows. In the recent past, Springsteen expressed a desire to play smaller, more intimate venues “in pursuit of my constant goal to provide an entertaining evening and to communicate something of value." It is theorized (but unconfirmed) that SPRINGSTEEN’s 8-week Broadway run may be a precursor to more Broadway appearances, specifically based around his autobiography… Rock On!
