ZZ TOP's guitar-slingin' BILLY F. GIBBONS has just issued a new song and announced a September 21st release date for the guitarist's second solo album. The album, 'The Big Bad Blues' follows up Gibbon's first solo album, 2015's 'Perfectamundo,' and it sees a return to the guitarist's blues roots with a mix of new, original songs and Blues classics. Gibbon's 'Perfectamundo' album indulged the guitarist's love for Afro/Cuban rhythms, and was generally well-received by fans and critics alike. A short tour was mounted in support of that album, and after the fact, a live performance DVD was issued. Given that Mr. Gibbons is well-known around the world primarily as a blues guitarist, it's understandable that the executives at his record label were anxious for a return to his love for the Blues, and Gibbons responded with the new album. The first song from 'The Big Bad Blues' (which you can LISTEN to below) is the blues classic, 'Rollin' and Tumblin,' a song that was made famous by Muddy Waters, who adapted it from a 1929 tune by Hambone Willie Newbern. The song has since been covered by Bob Dylan, Cream, Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton, and many others. Gibbons has promised that another solo tour is being planned following the release of 'The Big Bad Blues,' which can be pre-ordered thru the Rock legend's website. Rock On, Billy F. Gibbons!
