In a recent interview with legendary, Rock & Roll Guitarist, RITCHIE BLACKMORE, he mentioned a couple of things worth recalling: 1) If asked, he would "probably" play again with DEEP PURPLE---he also acknowledged that he hasn't been asked and it probably won't happen anyway and 2) he doesn't enjoy having "Fun." Specifically, (in an interview with The Guardian) BLACKMORE said, “I work very hard at not having fun. I don’t think the world is a fun place. I’m very content in my own mind – but fun, I’m not too sure about. I don’t quite know what fun is. I don’t know why I should walk around with a perpetual grin on my face, saying everything’s wonderful. I just don’t fit into the fun area."  Okay then. I must admit, that after listening to the brand new, 'live' album from RITCHIE BLACKMORE'S RAINBOW, "Live In Birmingham 2016," (due June 9th) it doesn't appear or sound (to me) like "Fun." In my opinion, the performances are kinda "stiff" & "wooden," and certainly, there's no real spark considering that some of the most iconic and  fan-favorite DEEP PURPLE and RAINBOW songs were performed...It's like BLACKMORE 'went to work--nothing fancy, nothing compelling...just another day at the office.' And, even tho the guitarist had not planned on any new RAINBOW music other than a few concerts, he has, indeed, just issued 2 tracks credited to 'RAINBOW' for the first time in over 20 years. One song, "Land of Hope & Glory" is an instrumental (that, IMO, doesn't sound very RAINBOW-ish at all), and a re-visiting of the 1981 RAINBOW song, "I Surrender," (from 1981's 'Difficult To Cure' LP) that features current RAINBOW singer, RONNIE ROMERO.  The 2 songs are presented here for your perusal... Rock On!
