'Empire,' the landmark 1990 album from Seatlle rockers, QUEENSRYCHE, is coming up on the 30th anniversary of it's release, and (former) lead singer GEOFF TATE has revealed plans for an upcoming anniversary box set. In a recent interview with Eonmusic, Mr. Tate talked about plans for a "phenomenal'" box set, and how the 'Empire' album is "one of my favorite albums." Additionally, the singer, who has spent the last 12 months on tour in the U.S. and Europe for the 'Operation: Mindcrime' 30th Anniversary, has voiced his desire to perform all of the 'Empire' album on tour as well. Speaking on that subject, Tate said, "I'd like to play every song [from 'Empire'] because there are songs on that album that I have played very rarely." With the lawsuits between Tate and the other members of Queensryche all settled, he is looking forward to his involvement with the reissue, which will include liner notes, commentary, and interviews. What Tate did not comment on, was the musical content of the album, although he let on that he did indeed know what it would the content will be, but it was "too early" to talk about... The 'Empire' album was first released in 1990, and included the hit ballad "Silent Lucidity", which reached No. 9 on the Billboard singles chart, and helped push "Empire" to No. 7 on the album chart and earned two Grammy Award nominations. 'Empire' was re-released for it's 20th anniversary featuring remastered audio, 10 bonus 'live' tracks, and was  presented in a lift-top box with five postcards, a fold-out poster and a booklet featuring rare photos from the band's personal archive. Time will tell what the 30th Anniversary set will offer Queensryche fans, but speaking as one of them....can't wait!! Rock ON, Queensryche!
