The first-ever ‘LOUDWIRE Music Awards Show’ is set for late October and will take place at the Novo Theater in Los Angeles. LOUDWIRE, the on-line (Hard Rock/Heavy Metal) Rock Music/News site will recognize and honor veteran Heavy Metal artists TONY IOMMI (Black Sabbath) and ROB HALFORD (Judas Priest), and the festivities will be emceed by musician, wrestler, actor and podcast host Chris Jericho. TONY IOMMI will be the first recipient of the ‘Courage Award’ which will pay tribute to the influential guitarist for not only his vast musical contributions over the years, but also for his bravery in fighting cancer, which fortunately is now in remission. Additionally, the award will be renamed ‘The Iommi’ for future recipients who also approach adversity and challenges with dignity and courage. Not only that, but a ‘cast’ of Tony’s arm and hand will be the template for the award statue! Of the "Hand of Doom" statue,, Mr. Iommi says “Of all the funny things that I’ve done in my life — this was another one,” Iommi quipped in a statement. “I was asked if I would do a mold of my hand so that they could make it into an award. … I was very honored. I was asked to put my arm into this big bucket full of this colored gel, all was going fine until it set and then I found that I couldn’t get my arm back out! My hand started to cramp up and I thought oh no what now? Anyway, after a considerable amount of pulling and twisting it eventually came out and the cast looked amazing, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the finished award.”  JUDAS PRIEST’s ROB HALFORD will be recognized for his musical contributions with the first-ever ‘Lemmy Lifetime Achievement Award,' named after the late Motorhead bassist and Cultural Icon. Commenting on the honor, ROB HALFORD said, “At long last the metal stars are aligned and I’m stoked to attend this year’s Loudwire Awards show. “I’m excited to shout hails with horns up for all of my friends at Loudwire and all the bands and the fans!” Readers/Fans of the Loudwire site can participate in the voting in a number of categories, including ‘Album and Song Of the Year’ starting August 15th. Winners in the various categories will all get to take home the TONY IOMMI “ Hand of Doom" statue!  More details about the Awards Show can be found at Livewire’s Offical Awards Site. Rock On!
