In addition to his newest album, "Sad Clowns & Hillbillies," Singer/Songwriter, JOHN MELLENCAMP has also found the time to record a song for the National Geographic's Documentary film about the Coal Industry..."Dark As A Dungeon" is a song that was written and originally performed in 1946 by MERLE TRAVIS, and also famously covered by JOHNNY CASH on his album, "Live At Folsom Prison." Mr. Mellencamp recorded his version to help promote the film, "From The Ashes," which was a recent "Official Selection" at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, and it delves into the history and future of the U.S. Coal Mining Industry. The film had it's premiere on the National Geographic TV channel on June 25th, and is available to 'Stream" for free until July 3rd on YouTube, Facebook, Hulu, Amazon, Google Play, Video on Demand and the National Geographic website and TV apps.
