With the sadness, pain, and sense of loss still fresh in the hearts and minds of GREGG ALLMAN fans, the upcoming release of the late singer’s final recordings should (hopefully) help to buoy the spirits of those who loved his unmistakable singing and unforgettable songs… “Southern Blood,” the recording of which was a sustaining factor in his last few months of life, will be released on September 8th. The first new taste of the album, “My Only True Friend,” has just been released and is available to ‘stream.’ The song is one of 10 new Allman compositions on the album (see complete track listing below) , which was recorded at the legendary Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, which coincidentally, was where older brother DUANE ALLMAN played as a session guitarist on a wealth of landmark Rock and R&B recordings in the time before the formation of the immortal band that would bear the brothers' name. The album was recorded with Allman’s ‘touring band’ that also included former ABB percussionist, MARC QUINONES, and Guitarist SCOTT SHARRARD, who has served as Gregg’s musical director for the previous decade. Sharrard also co-wrote some of the album’s songs and helped Producer DON WAS with the final, post-recording duties. Sharrard let on that if he (Allman) could have, he would have maybe re-done some of the vocals…“All the vocals were cut live on the floor, and I think Gregg wanted to redo them, but we didn’t get that chance, because of his illness. But I can tell you that the stuff that I have — the roughs and a couple of the final mixes — sounds just spectacular.”  ALLMAN’s long-time friend, JACKSON BROWNE also appears on the album’s final number, “Song For Adam.”
