In a move that has long been speculated but never confirmed, The EAGLES' DON HENLEY has confirmed that DEACON FREY, son of the late EAGLES founder/singer/songwriter, GLEN FREY, will take his Dad's place on stage this Summer. Henley was being interviewed on a Dallas radio station and made the announcement even though it wasn't scheduled to be revealed for a few days yet...Henley told his radio host, “There’s going to be an official announcement in a few days but let’s just do it here. Glenn’s son Deacon is a very talented young man, and he seems to be up for the task. He’s enthusiastic about it and he’s been working real hard on it, and he’s gonna do it with us. I think that’s appropriate.” Deacon Frey will perform with The Eagles at Classic East & Classic West, the 2 bi-coastal dates taking place in July in New York City and Los Angeles. Sharing the bill for those dates will be co-headliners, FLEETWOOD MAC, and 'support groups' STEELY DAN, JOURNEY, EARTH, WIND, & FIRE, & The DOOBIE BROTHERS. In the months following Glen Frey's death (January 2016), messages about the possible inclusion of Deacon Frey in any future Eagles' performances were unclear and inconsistent, and according to Henley, was due to grieving and shock. Henley went on to say, “I never planned on it coming out this way, but it’s my responsibility to carry on this legacy and to keep these songs alive. Apparently people still want to hear them. I thought we were done when Glenn passed away and I said as much, but I was in a state of shock at the time. But we have gotten a lot of messages from people all over the world from people who would like to see things continue.” Rock On!
