Back in December of last year, it was revealed that former Black Sabbath bassist, GEEZER BUTLER had joined forces with guitarist STEVE STEVENS (Billy Idol), drummer MATT SORUM (Guns N' Roses), and singer FRANKIE PEREZ (Apocolyptica) to form the new band, DEADLAND RITUAL. Now comes the announcement of the new outfit's plans to take it on the road, with a single show scheduled in the U.S. (May 28th in West Hollywood) before they take off to Europe in June for a longer tour. More shows in the U.S. are expected to be announced at a later date. After retiring from Black Sabbath following their farewell shows, Geezer Butler took time off to travel and didn't anticipate joining up with another band, but as the British Rock veteran recounted, “It’s what I’ve known since I started when I was 16; I was in a band. When you’re doing solo stuff, it’s just you writing stuff. There’s nobody to bounce off, and I really missed that. It’s good to have people saying, ‘That’s good. That’ll work.’ Or, ‘That’s not so good.’ And I missed having that." As for what people can expect to hear at a Deadland Ritual show, Matt Sorum offered that the live shows, "will be something special, mixing the original material with deeper cuts from the band members’ collective past. “Not the typical songs you would expect.” There are plans for a full album down the line, and according to Sorum, they already have 3 songs 'in the can,' and lots of material and other songs that are taking shape. Deadland Ritual recently released their first song, 'Down In Flames,' which you can view/listen to below. Rock ON, Deadland Ritual!
