Pearl Jam Drummer To Skip Rock Hall Induction

March 16, 2017

The other day I shared a tweet of a handwritten note from Pearl Jam to all their former drummers, inviting them to the RRHOF induction April 7th (see below) - turns out, one of the former drummers can't make it. Matt Chamberlain, who played with PJ back in '91 and was in the video for "Alive," said work commitments will keep him from attending.

Chamberlain told Rolling Stone (who reached out to all the former drummers for comment), "I’m so happy they are getting honored by the Hall of Fame. They are good friends and total inspirations. I wish them all the best. Of course, I appreciate the shoutout.”

Dave Abbruzzese, PJ's drummer on the Vs. and Vitalogy albums, and who has been the most vocal about being excluded from the induction, reposted Pearl Jam's invite on his Facebook page, which I guess, kind of indicates that he'll be attending?

The only two drummers who will actually be inducted with the band are original stickman Dave Krusen and current drummer Matt Cameron.

Pearl Jam will be inducted alongside Journey, Joan Baez, ELO, Yes and Tupac Shakur at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 7th.
