Hi-ho Silver! AWAY!

Cheers Bitches! One last time...

May 30, 2017

As Jim Morrison said, This is the End. This is the end of an era...at least for me. This is the end of something that started 7 1/2 years ago and never would have imagined that it would have grown into what it has. But now...it's over. Well, it's almost over. Tomorrow, May 31st 2017, 7 years, 4 months and 14 days after I started on the air at WCMF, will be my last day here on 'CMF.

I will never forget one of the first phone calls I got on the air - my first day I asked what advice you had for me...coming in, new to the area, new to the station, taking over for Robinson...and one of the first reply's was, keep my crap packed...because I wouldn't be around long. And when I asked where I'd be going, the reply was "...in less than a year you'll be playing polka songs on some crap-ass station in Sheboygan Wisconsin." Well...I'm here to tell you...today is that day. I'm headed off to Sheboygan Wisconsin to fulfill my polka song playing dreams!

Not really - but I am leaving. In fact, I've already left. I hated to do it this way - I really wanted to have the chance to say a proper goodbye. But the way it worked out, and the way it had to happen - I actually left in early April. I've been doing my show, remotely, from Portland Oregon since then. This is the only time you'll ever hear me apologize...ask Natalee...my girlfriend. But I'm sorry. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you sooner, even though I'm sure a lot of you figured it out since I wasn't doing the same kind of things I normally do. I had totally planned on doing everything the same. I had every intention of having the same show...but the best laid plans of mice and men...as they say. Technically it couldn't be done the way I had envisioned it. So...again, I'm sorry.

To answer some questions; no - this has nothing to do with my health, or with the fact that I had a health scare. There was an opportunity that came up that when I was 19 years old I set my sights on and have been working toward ever since. I didn't give up on that dream, but resigned myself last year that it may never happen...so I bought a house in Chili. I was never anywhere long enough before to even THINK about buying a house, let alone actually doing it. And 10 months to the date, seriously, 10 months to the date I closed on the house, I got offered the job I had set my sights on 26 years ago. I had to take it.

That being said, I've never left somewhere before, on my own terms, that has affected me as much as you have. As much as Rochester has - it grew on me. You and Rochester have become a part of who I am...and I will miss you. I already do. I'll miss my friends...Leslie and Erik Ward out at Lovin' cup...Leslie change your last name already for god's sake! Bob and Janet Zink, Leslie's parents who have always been so kind to me. Geoff Dale and the the rest of the Three Heads guys - Todd and Dan and Skippy. Mike Alcorn and the guys out at CB Craft Brewers - Joe McBane from Tap and Mallet and that whole crew - UPS Bob, Ryan Sheppard out at Stoneyard - Jason and Sean from Periodic Table of Elephants - you need to see that band! I'm not kidding...you'll like them. They're a great two piece and they rock.

I can't name everyone who called or e-mailed or tweeted but I want to thank you - every single one of you - Klaus out at Riverton, Jo, Tom, John the Painter, Chris the Chef, Alex out at Craigy Brae, Benny the Jew, Dr Mudd, Dick Fitzwell, Troy the Tree Destroyer, Vexed Patriarch and and everyone else. So many people I know I'm missing...and all I can say is thank you. Thank you for making these past 7 years some of the best of my life.

I'll miss working with the Break Room - Tommy, Duffy and Kimmy - the best morning show in the country. Hands down. There's not another show on the air as good as these guys and working with them has been...educational to say the least. But it's been fun, entertaining and it's been an honor and a pleasure to get to know them, become friends with them and help them along their way.  And of course Kane-O. The elder statesman of 'CMF who's been there every step of the way and who again, it has been my honor and pleasure to get to know and work with.

So for me...this is the end. Almost. One last day on the air...one last time to raise a glass and salute you - thank you. Thank you for everything. I couldn't have asked for better and I certainly don't deserve it. You've been amazing and I only hope that when I'm gone, you'll continue to say horrible horrible things about me. Because, otherwise...what was it all for?!? Cheers Bitches!
