Black Sabbath's GEEZER BUTLER Forms New Band!

Drummer Matt Sorum & Guitarist Steve Stevens comprise 'Deadland Ritual'

December 3, 2018

Just because a heritage rock band decides to call it quits, it doesn't necessarily mean that the individual members of that band are going to a matter of fact, retirement doesn't ever really apply to musicians (IMO) as they just keep making music because, well, that's what they do!  :D Now, for instance, take GEEZER BUTLER, the thundering bass player from the legendary BLACK SABBATH...just because The Sabs have played their final concert doesn't mean that Mr. Butler is ready to stop, and he has made clear that he isn't! After traveling around the world for the better part of the last 2 years since Sabbath's final show, Butler has re-emerged with the announcement that he's formed a new band that is called, 'Deadland Ritual.' Joining Butler in the new venture are 2 seasoned and talented Rock & Roll performers: Drummer MATT SORUM (Guns N' Roses, Velver Revolver, Hollywood Vampires) and Guitarist STEVE STEVENS from Billy Idol's band. Additionally, singer Franky Perez, who is the singer with Apocalyptica (Metallica played on Cellos) will be part of the new group. In recent interviews, Mr. Butler said that band mate Tony Iommi's cancer diagnosis factored in the decision to 'call it a day' for Black Sabbath after almost 50 years together, but he also said that if it were up to him, "I would have toured for the next five years, because I love touring and traveling."  It looks like Butler will have the chance to do just that with Deadland Ritual, with a June 2019 appearance at France's 'Hellfest' already confirmed.
