As expected, Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins returned to the pratice field for the first time since being placed on Injured Reserve prior to week four.

Watkins was officialy disgnated as the team's IR-Designated to Return player earlier in the day.  That means he can practice for 21 days before the Bills have to decide whether or not to activate him to the 53-man roster.  Of course, he could be activated well before that, including before this Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.  However, if the former fourth-overall pick isn't activated within the 21 day window, he has to be shut down for the rest of the season.

Making him the IR-Return player means the Bills cannot use that tag on another player this year, which means safety Aaron Williams and center Eric Wood won't be back this season regardless of how they progress through their injuries.

Watkins had surgery to repair a broken foot in the offseason, then played in the team's first two games, catching 6 passes for 63 yards before being placed on IR.
