Sean McDermott taking the labels off his players

October 30, 2017

The Buffalo Bills are 5-2 and in prime playoff position early in the season. Following Sunday's 34-14 win over the Oakland Raiders, the Bills are perfect at home, and start 4-0 at home for the first time since 1995. It couldn't have been much of a better start to Sean McDermott's coaching career. He joined Schopp and the Bulldog Monday afternoon for his regular Buffalo Football Monday appearance.

Here are some of the best from McDermott's visit:

On getting great play from lesser known players:
"It was pretty special. Getting contributions from everyone on the roster. A total team effort. Trae Elston filling in for Poyer, Jordan Mills, Khari Lee, guys that aren't even playing. Unselfish guys, not necessarily household names. What we've been able to do is take label off of players, they're not backups, they are our players."

On keeping the Raiders pass rush in check:
"We're building some continuity up front, ran the ball well for the second week in a row. A lot of good stuff going up front. Going against Khalil Mack and Bruce Irvin, they're no slouches, so thought we did a good job."

On going for it on 4th and 1 on the 1 yard line:
"It was an easy call because I have a lot of faith in the offensive line and Tyrod Taylor."

On goals for the rest of the season:
"We focus on process, we try to get better, every day, every game, every week. If you're not saying that you're goal is to win the Super Bowl then what are you doing here?"
