Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin was introduced to his new city

Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - Rasmus Dahlin knew which team was going to draft him into the NHL, but he didn’t want to say until it happened last Friday. Now that he’s a Buffalo Sabre, he’s pleased to have his sweater, “To actually put on this jersey with this logo on it, it’s amazing. I’ve been waiting for this for so long, so finally I’m here.”

Ever since the Sabres have won the Draft Lottery, many have labeled Dahlin the team’s savior. Dahlin said, “I don’t think that way, I’m just so motivated to win hockey games, so I’ll bring everything I can to this team.”

Jason Botterill wasn’t asked the question, but he wanted to have a chance to answer it, “He doesn’t need to be the savior. We’re excited about our young players like Jack [Eichel], Sam [Reinhart], [Rasmus] Ristolainen, so he can be part of this group and grow together.”

It’s evident that Dahlin does his homework. He knows what’s important to Sabres fans, “I heard that Buffalo and the Toronto Maple Leafs are having some hard games, so that will be fun.”

Dahlin said his mother is going to live with him in Buffalo to start, but he doesn’t know how long she’ll stay.

Dahlin did spend a little time on the ice Monday at HarborCenter. He and other prospects start development camp on Wednesday at 2:30.
