August 29, 2018

After signing a professional tryout contract late in the year last season, Judd Peterson is returning to the Rochester Americans for the 2018-19 season.

The Amerks announced on Wednesday that they have brought back the 24-year-old on a one-year AHL contract.

Peterson appeared in two games last season with the Amerks, going pointless while registering five shots on goal. Prior to signing his PTO, Peterson had finished up his senior season at St. Cloud State University, scoring six goals and registering 18 points in 40 games.

The seventh round pick (204th overall) of the Buffalo Sabres in the 2012 NHL Draft spent four years at St. Cloud State, putting up a combined 65 points (37 goals and 28 assists) in 151 games. His best season came as a sophomore where he scored 16 goals and 23 points in 38 games. That year, St. Cloud State went on to take the National Collegiate Hockey Conference title, but ended up being eliminated in the Round of 16 in the Frozen Four Tournament.
