NWHL's Buffalo Beauts acquired by the Pegulas

Just about 2 and a half years into their existence, the NWHL's Buffalo Beauts have an owner. Terry and Kim Pegula announced the purchase/acquistion of the Beauts on Thursday morning.

The Beauts play their home games at HarborCenter in downtown Buffalo. They are the defending Isobel Cup Champions, the trophy awarded to the NWHL champions each year. This is the 3rd season for the NWL and the Beauts, the leauge still has just 4 teams. The other 3 are located in New Jersey, Boston, and Connecticut.

All 4 teams were owned by the league for their first 2 years. The Pegulas are the second ownership group to acquire a team, the New Jersey Devils purchased part of the Metropolitan Riveters.

The Beauts feature several players from Team USA, including captain Emily Pfazler, and Olympic Silver Medalist Megan Bozek. In the 2017-18 season, the Beauts are 3-4, good for second place. Their next game is Saturday, January 6th against the Boston Pride. That'll be a home game at HarborCenter.
