From the Locker Room: Sabres-Senators

The Buffalo Sabres traveled North of the Border to take on the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night with hopes of extending their road winning streak to five.

The streak of road victories would be snapped on this night, unfortunately. Leading 2-1 with 30.9 seconds left in regulation, Robin Lehner and the Sabres were beaten by Senators' Derick Brassard for the game-tying goal, and then in overtime it was Ottawa winger Mike Hoffman who potted the game-winning ender in one-time fashion. Buffalo dropped the contest in the extra period by a final score of 3-2.

Go inside the locker room to hear from Robin Lehner, Evan Rodrigues, Kyle Okposo, Evander Kane and Phil Housley following the loss.

Robin Lehner:

On the effort: "It was just one of those games. We didn't really get into it. We came out for the third period with nothing [on either side of the puck]."

Describing the Sens' OT winner: "Good pass, good one-timer. Tried to get there, but it was tough."

Evan Rodrigues:

His goal: "[Kyle] Okposo made a great play drawing them to the middle, drawing the defense over to him. It gave me plenty of time to shoot and make a nice shooting decision. It was a great play."

End result: "Definitely disappointing. The effort wasn't there like it had been in these last handful of games. These are the kinds of games we want to desperately close out for Robin [Lehner]. He played so well, kept us in the game."

Kyle Okposo:

Robin's night: "He played terrific. He always seems to bring his best against Ottawa, and he did tonight. Unfortunate we couldn't get him that win tonight."

Spotty effort: "Wasn't a clean game. It was sporadic, at best. They dominated us in the second period. We didn't exit our zone cleanly. We have to have a better 60 [minutes]."

Evander Kane:

His OT untimely line change: "I raced all the way down the ice there and had no idea what was going on behind me. I was just changing, and then I had people yelling at me to stay on... get off... bad break. Probably shouldn't have been in that position to start with anyway."

Phil Housley:

OT miscommunication: "We had to go back into our own zone and take a faceoff. We had been out there a long time. We could've pulled it back and made a change, but we thought we had an opportunity to break out."

Effort to 'stick to the script' not as strong as recent memory: "Our gameplan was about feeding pucks behind them, but we didn't do that nearly enough. We fed their transition game tonight."
