Good news on injury front for Benjamin and Hyde

November 20, 2017

Joe DiBiase reporting

Bills fans were holding their breath when Kelvin Benjamin went down holding his knee, after making his first catch against the Chargers. Sean McDermott today at his press conference on Benjamin "good news is there's no ligament damage to (Benjamin's) knee. We're still evaluating him."

Benjamin made a catch in stride, over the middle, and took it for 20 yards on the Bills first series. However, he went down holding his right knee, walked to the sidelines, before being carted off to the locker room. Not long after, the Bills announced that Benjamin had been ruled out for the game. Most would have thought, torn ACL, torn MCL, or some sort of long term injury, but it appears he escapes with nothing major.

It was a big blow for the Bills offense. Offensive coordinator Rick Dennison said on Monday that he had four or five plays in the first 15, intended for Benjamin. His status for Week 12 at Kansas City is up in the air.

Meanwhile on the defensive side of the ball, Micah Hyde left in the 3rd quarter with a knee injury. Nothing serious on his end either. McDermott said today "Hyde checks out fine. Should be okay moving forward."
