First Period

18:28 - It is clear that the Sabres are looking to establish the play against a Tampa team that played last night. Even Casey Nelson has gotten in on the scoring rush early to press the play.

13:35 - SABRES GOAL. Nick Baptiste's speed was on display perfectly for the game's first goal. He leads the rush out of his own zone and has Zemgus Girgensons with him. The two criss-cross in the Tampa end and a nifty pass puts the puck on Baptiste's stick to slide between the legs of Louis Domingue. Excellent play for the goal. 1-0 BUF.

9:33 - This has been a good first half of the period for Buffalo. They are taking the play to Tampa and not letting the visitors get set in the offensive zone. They should be doing this more often.

7:50 - Scott Wilson heads to the penalty box for using his glove to cover up the puck before brushing it away from harm. The delay of game penalty gives Tampa Bay their first real chance at the game-tying goal in the game.

6:37 - LIGHTNING GOAL. Buffalo could not escape the penalty kill without allowing a goal, thanks to some slick passing and puck movement by Tampa. Nikita Kucherov received a Victor Hedman pass and immediately put it to the front of the net, where Yanni Gourde buried it. 1-1 tie.

3:48 - The fans are not happy as Girgensons will sit for tripping. It was a bad call by the officials, for sure. Tampa goes to the PP for the second time in the game.
