David was released by the Colts after undergoing season ending surgery in 2017. He's a 9-year veteran who's started 112 games in his career. In those games he had 22 interceptions, and made two Pro Bowls. The Bills were Davis' first free agency visit. Afterwards he went to San Francisco, Miami, Cleveland and Oakland, before ultimately choosing the Bills.

The Davis signing likely means the end to E.J. Gaines, who will be a free agent in a few weeks. Gaines had a very good season and could be asking for a hefty salary. Davis comes in as a cheaper option, and a 1-year deal which doesn't tie the Bills up with another long term contract.
