Bills' safety Jordan Poyer named AFC Defensive Player of the Month

January 4, 2018

Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer has been named the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Month for December.

According to the Bils, it’s the first time in NFL history a safety tandem have each earned Defensive Players of the Month honors in the same season.  Power’s position-mate Micah Hyde won the award in October.

For the month of December, in games against the Patriots and Dolphins twice, as well as the Colts, Poyer collected three interceptions, one in each of the last three games of the season.  He also added 30 total tackles and four pass breakups.

The 26-year old signed a four-year, $13 million contract with the Bills as a free agent in March.  The Oregon State product was selected by Philadelphia in the seventh round of the 2013 draft and spent his first four years in the league with the Eagles and Browns.
