Bills, Raiders both dealing with injuries in secondary

October 26, 2017

The Bills were still without two starting defensive backs at Thursday’s practice.

And so were the Oakland Raiders.

The two teams square off Sunday in Orchard Park, both looking to build off victories from last week.  But both could also be without key members of their defense.

For the Bills, CB EJ Gaines (hamstring) and S Jordan Poyer (knee) both missed practice for a second straight day.  Head coach Sean McDermott once again declared them both day-to-day and said their status for Sunday hasn’t been determined yet.  Bills G Richie Incognito also missed his second practice in a row with an ankle injury, but McDermott indicated it was more precautionary and that it was part of the plan for the week after Incognito suffered the injury during last week’s 30-27 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

For Oakland, interesting to note that leading tackler, S Karl Joseph, did not practice Thursday after being only limited Wednesday. That could indicate a setback as he recovers from a groin injury.  Also starting CB David Amerson didn’t practice for a second day in a row.  He left their 31-30 win over the Chiefs early last Thursday night.

Punter Marquette King was a also a new addition to the Raiders’ practice report with a groin injury.

The official injury report and game status for each player comes out Friday.  In the meantime, here is the weekly practice report so far for each team:
