Ryan, 36, asked for his release from the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, seeing the writing on the wall that Seattle was going to go with fifth round rookie Michael Dickson.

Ryan had spent the last 10 seasons with the Seahawks before his release from the team on Monday. The Regina, Saskatchewan native will be re-united with former teammate in Seattle, Stephen Hauschka. The two had spent six seasons together with the special teams unit from 2011 to 2016.

Over the course of his 13-year career, Ryan has 914 punts for nearly 41,000 yards. Ryan started his career with the Green Bay Packers from 2006 to 2007.

Ryan will join Colton Schmidt on the roster at the punter position, and will likely compete to make the 53-man roster for the upcoming season. Cory Carter was the other punter on the roster to start the preseason, but suffered a torn ACL in his left knee on Friday against the Cleveland Browns.
